Stephen Stokols, WooMe.com founder and CEO may be the experienced
business executive driving the company forward, however, if not for
his little sister, 23 year old Haley, WooMe.com would not exist today.
WooMe’s concept, taking speed dating online though live voice and
video communications was actually developed by Haley after her many
failed attempts finding real connection with guys through social
networks, traditional dating sites and offline speed dating events.
Haley reasoned that speed dating, while a great way to meet a lot of
people in a short period of time was almost too focused on finding
romance, when all she was really looking to do was meet some great,
interesting people.
By taking the offline craze online, Stephen broadened the concept from just dating to general introductions leveraging the openness of the internet to allow people to meet and connect over any topic anywhere.

With all the coverage surrounding our launch, it appears we WOO’d just a few too many people. Our site came down tonight shortly after our sessions began at 7pm due to the overwhelming traffic loads on our servers.
First and foremost, we apologize to everyone who decided to check out our site today and experience WooMe for the very first time. While we took many precautions planning for a spike in volume to our site, we never imagined in our wildest dreams the type of response we had this evening
We will be working hard all night to provision the required server capacity to handle traffic loads much greater than those incurred thus far and expect to be fully functional tomorrow night. He asks the question: ‘So can online-speed dating work (as a business, and as a way of meeting someone special)?’ We clearly think the answer is yes. But we think the answer is a bit more complicated in that users of the WooMe platform will help drive the direction this business goes - WooMe is an introductions platform.
